Medina Community Band Association
Medina Community Band Association has served as the fiscal agent for the modern era of the band. Since 2015, the association is composed entirely of current members of the band. In addition to offering financial support, the association offers support for the members and conductors of the band.
Medina Community Band Board
The Medina Community Band Association (MCBA) exists to sponsor and support the Medina Community Band (MCB). It exists to preserve the tradition of having band concerts in the Medina community, which includes both indoor and the outdoor summer concerts in the Uptown Park on Medina’s historic public square.
In addition, MCBA will promote the performance of traditional wind band literature, primarily, but not limited to, compositions for wind band, overtures, and other orchestral transcriptions, marches, patriotic music, music from films and musical theater, vocal and instrumental solos, and other traditional American music.
MCBA supports MCBs efforts to provide educational opportunities for musical growth and development along with quality performance opportunities for amateur wind and percussion players from Medina County (OH) and the surrounding communities. (Taken from Code of Regulations – September 2014).
As of September 15th, 2014, members of MCB assumed control of MCBA following the departure of Kiwanis Breakfast Club of Medina. The board was appointed for an initial term by the conductor to help make the transition from a Kiwanis sponsored association to one sponsored by the band itself. This transition marks the first time in the history of MCB that it would be sponsored by members of the band and not an outside sponsoring organization. Marcus Neiman will serve the board as executive director, offering his years of experience not only as conductor of MCB, but as an officer and trustee of numerous not-for and non-profit arts boards. As a staff member, Neiman is a non-voting member of the board.
