Monica Lenox

Monica Lenox

Treasurer

Monica Lenox has been a member of the Medina Community Band since 2008 and a resident of Sharon Center for almost three decades. She graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Fine Art/Crafts.  After working as both a fine craftsman and a production artist full-time for close to twenty years, specializing in working with pewter, and volunteering in animal rescue for more than twenty years, she moved into the medical field, working as a Physician’s Practice Manager and Medical Biller. In 2018, she became the Assistant Director of Student Credentialing at NEOMED (Northeast Ohio Medical University). Recently, Monica retired from NEOMED and now has more time to focus on her passions of art and music.

Monica switched to the bassoon in high school after learning to play the flute in grade school. While enrolled at Kent State University, she helped Composing students debut their creations onstage.  Since then, she has enjoyed a variety of musical experiences with orchestras, bands, and small groups in Northeast Ohio. Bassoonists joke that it takes three thumbs and a sense of humor to play the bassoon because it is the only instrument that you have to use every one of your fingers to play. Monica’s bassoon has 30 keys to keep her fingers busy and when it’s standing on the floor, it is almost as tall as she is.

Monica has recently taken over the duties of Treasurer of the Medina Community Band Association.  She currently lives in Sharon Center with her husband, three cats, a dog and a donkey.
